Meet Shameir Edwards: Founder/ Educational Consultant/ Lead Reading Specialist
As a former 8th grade Reading teacher and Reading Specialist in Dallas TX, I know teachers are expected to do a lot with so many students but with limited time and resources. Meanwhile, at home, parents are juggling work, family, and a million other responsibilities. And sometimes... students get lost in it all. And these are the students that need extra reading support. As a parent, we are already trying to fit so many things into an already busy school day or family schedule.
This is why I created Literacy Enhancement Strategies LLC, to give students personalized virtual reading support that meets their needs, builds confidence, and makes life a little easier for the families and educators cheering them on.
Working with both General Education and Special Education students has given me a well-rounded understanding of how children learn and why one approach doesn’t work for everyone.
My instruction combines evidence-based strategies, Structured Literacy, and the Science of Reading to meet each student where they are and help them grow. I’ve helped students make meaningful progress. This is seen through my 63% average growth rate in students during my targeted Dyslexia intervention.
The goal is to help children learn to stop doubting their reading abilities and start recognizing just how much they can achieve. Every child deserves support that meets them where they are and celebrates how far they’ve come.
